Rough and Tumble Play
“Disappearing or Getting Lost” Play
Children will learn how to assess their “risky play” by completing a self-awareness and self-confidence checklist prior to participating. This will involve asking themselves questions like “do I feel safe?”, “have I practiced enough in other areas so that I am ready for this challenge?” Children will work with Angela to build the necessary skills needed in order to tackle their “risky play” in responsible and safe ways. Angela will be with the children to monitor and “spot” each child as they play!
Your child will build meaningful relationships with their classmates and Angela.

Discover
Children will discover the Land and all it holds. Repeated exposure to the same location allows the children to discover local plants, fungus, and creatures. We will discover through seasonal changes, through observation and listening. Discovery through experience of trial and error, practice, and persistence.
Appreciate
Children will develop a deep appreciation for the Land and what it offers to each of us. Appreciation of the life of the forest begins with an understanding that we are visitors of the space. Learning to tread lightly, becoming aware of our impact, and valuing the existence of all life. Appreciating diversity, responsibility, and reverence.
Steward
Children will learn that we are caretakers of the Land. It is up to us as community citizens to know how our impact on the Land will affect our generation and generations that come after us. Children will learn about environmental stewardship programs and people who have made a difference and who continue to make a difference in protecting our Land and its inhabitants.
