Wonder & Awe Forest Play acknowledges that children are;
naturally curious and inspired about the environments they are placed in,
capable and motivated learners, and
designed for movement which is important for both their physical and sensorial development.
Wonder & Awe Forest Play is located on a 5-acre parcel of forested land in the beautiful community of Stave Falls, Mission, British Columbia. The Land provides the children with the opportunity to explore in a mixed forest; conifers and deciduous trees, to participate in growing and harvesting produce including wild berry bushes; salmonberries, thimbleberries, and blackberries, and to help care for a variety of farm animals; sheep, mini pigs, and chickens.
Wonder & Awe Forest Play is situated on the unceded, ancestral, and shared territory of the Stó:lō people, who have occupied these lands since time immemorial. We are so fortunate to work, play and learn, on this Land. We are committed to learning the history and shared experiences of our Indigenous community members in an effort of reconciliation. We promise to be good stewards of the Land shared with us.
Wonder & Awe Forest Play is committed to helping children and their families get outdoors to explore, play, and learn. This is why they fully support the work and mission of Child & Nature Alliance of Canada! Wonder & Awe Forest Play pledges to give 5% of all program fees to this amazing organization!
Wonder & Awe Forest Play aims to;
foster a love of the natural world,
develop an environmental awareness and responsibility, and
encourage freedom and exploration within the forest.
“Spending uninterrupted time in nature is a healing balm to our hurried souls.”
— Angela Horbanuik, Founder & Visionary of Wonder & Awe Forest Play
